Chutney Mary and sister restaurants Veeraswamy and Amaya make up a gilded trio of addresses that have redefined Indian fine dining in the capital. Chutney Mary started life in Chelsea in 1990, moving to opulent (to say the least) surrounds in St. James’s in 2015. The kitchen has expensive tastes: tandoori Dover sole, Madagascan prawns and griddled scallops in Mangalorean sauce are a lavish counterpoint to chicken tikka, Hyderabadi lamb shank and biryani. Finish with a clever ‘gulab jamun tiramisu’ hybrid.
