Fordwich Arms

An easy day out from London, the Fordwich Arms, near Canterbury, is the picture-perfect country pub, all roaring fires, wood-paneled walls and river views. Now in the hands of ex-Clove Clubbers Dan Smith and Natasha Norton-Smith and Guy Palmer-Brown, it’s on track to become an important dining destination. Come for Kent’s finest produce in the form of duck liver parfait, blackberry, and warm doughnuts, applewood-grilled Whitsable lobster and chilled Gusbourne rosé. Sundays call for côte de boeuf and a bottle from the well-stocked cellar.
