When Tom Pemberton opened this restaurant in 2007, it wasn’t guaranteed that the posh Notting Hill clientele would fancy the minimalist approach he picked up while running the kitchen at St. John Bread & Wine.  Written with the terse simplicity associated with Fergus Henderson’s exemplary St. John, Hereford Road’s menu makes a lot of sense: Tom Pemberton formerly ran St. John’s east London outpost, Bread and Wine. Dishes like deviled lamb’s kidneys, potted crab, apple crumble, and even green salad bely a care and attention to detail that makes this one of London’s finest, most underrated restaurants.
