Jolene

Jolene, with branches in Islington, Shoreditch, and Newington Green, is the bakery arm of the restaurant group behind north London neighbourhood favorites Primeur and Westerns Laundry. Newington Green is the big one, as not only is it a bakery, selling such goodies as cardamom twists and forced rhubarb Danish pastries, it’s also a chic, zinc-barred restaurant with good looks straight out of Kinfolk magazine. The daily chalkboard is as seasonal as you’d want, with spätzle and wild mushrooms in the colder months, cucumber and almond ajo blanco or nectarine, tomato, and pecorino in the summer. Natural wines line the shelves.
