In this gastropub located catty-corner to the Barbicon, Stephen Englefield presides over one of the few London operations that self-identify as game restaurants. When it’s not mallard, teal or snipe season, fish from Billingsgate Market and Suffolk chickens roasted on a spit take top billing; the pub side of gastropub means a wide range of quality wines and beers are on offer, with the European section of the list ranging through Spain, Austria and Greece. A good spot for a Sunday roast.
