Opened by brother Gabriel and Jose-Luis Gonzalez in 2012 (in partnership with none other than Central’s Virgilio Martinez), Lima, in Fitzrovia, is London’s most ambitious Peruvian restaurant. Lima offers London a glimpse of Nikkei-influenced cocina peruana contemporánea, using ingredients and preparations not widely known in the British capital. Choose between a tasting menu and a wide-ranging carte that offers sea bream ceviche taco with huacatay, scallop tiradito with plantain or smoked char siu pancetta with chaufa rice. Pair with pisco sours, of course, or one of a selection of truly global wines (perhaps Peruvian sauvignon or English sparkling wine).
