Ferhat and Sertaç Dirik’s dad, Ali, opened Mangal II Ocakbasi, a wildly popular Turkish grill in Dalston in 1994. When it fell on hard times, the twentysomething brothers took a chance and transformed it into the modern Anatolian dining room and hipster magnet it is today. Sertaç, who worked at Amass and 108 in Copenhagen, is the chef behind mutton tantuni with fermented green tomatoes and smoked pastirma or mountain tea rice pudding with sea buckthorn. To match, there are natural wines, ferments, craft beers and Turkish coffee.
