Ninth, The

Jun Tanaka’s 2015 opening The Ninth, on Charlotte Street, Fitzrovia, reopened in March 2023 after a kitchen fire had shuttered it for seven months. Tanaka, who honed his craft at Restaurant Marco Pierre White, The Square and Le Gavroche, is back with the same team and a refurbished dining room, serving French Mediterranean-style plates with renewed vigor. New to the menu: tuna belly, mojama and anchovy vinaigrette; and venison tartare, with Jerusalem artichokes and sour plums. The wine list favors Europe’s classic appellations.
