Noble Rot Soho
London, United Kingdom
The Soho sequel to the original in Bloomsbury, Noble Rot Soho occupies the site of what was once the Gay Hussar at 2 Greek Street. Popular with the sommelier set – the owners publish Noble Rot magazine – its cellar leans French (Burgundy, Jura, and the Loire) but loves its Piedmont and Rioja wines too. There’s plenty by the glass, and a good range under as well as over £100. Francophile chef Alex Jackson (ex-Sardine) cooks roast chicken, morels and riz au pilaf; Cornish monkfish, Tarbais beans, and roast artichokes; chocolate mousse and brandy prunes.
