Rekondo
San Sebastián, Spain
This country house, which began in 1964 as a modest cider house on the slopes of Monte Igueldo, has been transformed by Lourdes Rekondo, the daughter of the original owner, into a mandatory stop in San Sebastian. The cuisine is traditional — the best rice and clams in the city, wonderful morcilla (blood sausage) and a variety of grilled fish and meats. But the main attraction is the wine cellar, considered one of the world's best, holding around 130,000 bottles representing the best wine regions in the world.
