As they set foot inside Lalibera (“the free”), those with a trained eye will recognize iconic pieces of Scandinavian design, including Louis Poulsen’s "Artichoke" lamp and chairs by designer Arne Jacobsen. Will the cooking be Nordic-inspired as well, then? Fear not: This is exactly the sort of unfussy, perfect trattoria that is in abundance in and around the Langhe region. On the menu, you will find all of the regional classics: carne cruda al coltello (a sort of beef tartare, cut in chunks with a knife), vitello tonnato (veal in tuna sauce), ravioli in hen broth, agnolotti del plin.
