Opened in Islington in 1830, Sweetings relocated to this location on Queen Victoria Street in 1889. The windows of this lunch-only restaurant are displayed with whatever if fresh that day. Noted supplier Barfoot provides the catch, which might include Mersea oysters and will almost always include a sole, ready to be simply grilled and served with mashed potatoes and peas or turbot served with a mustard sauce. The drink of choice is a Black Velvet – Guinness and champagne, served in a silver tankard.
