Three big masculine restaurants in Soho, Covent Garden and the City from Neil Rankin, London’s reigning king of barbecue. Alive with loud music and smoky fire pits, Temper is a theater of meat with serious credentials. Rankin (Pitt Cue, Smokehouse) insists on “whole animal barbecue,” butchering in-house with zero waste. Choose a T-bone or whole fish, sides of burnt-end Thai larb or beef-fat béarnaise, or snack on soft-shell crab tacos and aged beef skewers. Serious wine and mezcal too.
